Beabadoobee, the alternative and indie early 2000s inspired alt-rock artist, took Toronto by storm at her first sold-out arena show at the Coca-Cola Colosseum for the "This Is How Tomorrow Moves Tour." The tour is supported by indie pop artist Keni Titus and Texas indie folk duo, Hovvdy (pronounced “howdy”). Followed by the release of her album “This Is How Tomorrow Moves” this pop rock album with nostalgic undertones showcases Bea’s experiences of heartbreak, personal growth, womanhood and childhood trauma making it a raw, impactful and deeply personal piece for her.

It was nothing short of outstanding when Keni Titus took the stage for their very first tour last night. The indie pop singer had the eager crowd in a trance with a captivating, delicate voice that enhanced the live band's performance beautifully as the audience became engaged and excited as soon as she took the stage. Fans cheered and clapped throughout the night showing their support for the upcoming artist, and the energy was evident. With a combination of upbeat and melancholic tunes, Keni's set brought the audience on a journey of emotions especially during "Take It Off," the entire arena was filled with flashlights, creating a sea of lights making it one of the most memorable moments of the show early on. Like a scene from a dream, it heightened the evening's sentimental atmosphere. Keni's sound evoked a sense of nostalgia in the audience influences of somber indie and pop from the 2000s. The response from the audience was very enthusiastic, with everyone looking forward to Hovvdy's set.

The dynamic duo Hovvdy (creatively pronounced “howdy”) who hail from Austin, Texas, brought a special blend of pop rock and country music to the Coca-Cola Colosseum stage. Their live band's engaging blend of slow indie folk held the audience's attention the entire time. Fans were truly in their feelings as Hovvdy’s set transported me away as their songs “Forever” and “Jean” made me  forget the reality of summer almost ending and brought back cherished memories. Their authentic connection with the crowd, Hovvdy had with the audience was what really made them stand out. They made everyone feel unique by interacting with them and expressing their love for Canada. The fans gave them even more respect and adoration when they halted the performance to make sure a fan in the crowd was safe and taken care of by event staff their kindness was evident. The level of crowd engagement was off the charts, with everyone feeling connected to Hovvdy's upbeat folk music, it was a set to remember, filled with so much joy, support, and soulful music.

Excitement was rising as the crowd gathered to their seats, ready to sing along and enjoy the performance before Beabadoobee's arrival. The atmosphere of the arena was electrifying as fans in every section were handed colourful paper hearts before the show to hold up during "Girl Song" The meaningful gesture was organized by fans from @beebadoobee_tor as an effort to demonstrate Toronto’s love and support for Bea. The set design was impeccable as the drapes encircled the band and branches, spot, and strobe lights were decorated behind to create the illusion of a foggy forest, was ideal for the ethereal music of Beabadoobee.

The setlist featured a blend of tracks from her latest album and older hits. Beabadoobe kicked off the performance with the lively “California” from her new album, “This Is How Tomorrow Moves” and followed up with “Talk” from her album “Beatopia”. The audience jumped to their feet, ready to dance the night away, as Bea fired the crowd up with excitement and delight as the fans sang their hearts out to each song, filling the packed arena with cheers and radiating energy. Throughout the performance, Beabadoobee effortlessly blended soft rock and indie elements, showcasing her mellow vocals that surprisingly overpowered the rock influenced instrumentals. The crowd was fully engaged, dancing and cheering, showing overwhelming support for the artist.

Beabadoobee clearly had a deep emotional connection with her fans, particularly during "Girl Song," when she was overcome with tears at the fans' outpouring of devotion as they coloured the arena with flashing lights made from coloured paper hearts. The striking sight of the rainbow lights dazzled the whole arena as Bea graciously thanked her fans for listening to her music and attending her show

The setlist was meticulously developed by combining songs from the new album and fan (and some of my) favourites like "The Glue Song," "The Perfect Pair," and the TikTok viral hit "Coffee". Beabadoobee's performance was a combination of mellow lo-fi and hardcore, with fans on a wave of every emotion chanting lyrics to every song dominating the sound system. Bea swapping out guitars for every song added a unique touch to the performance, showcasing her musical versatility and talent.  Just when we thought the show was over, Beabadoobee leaves fans chanting her name only to surprise Toronto with three encore songs “Coming Home", “The Way Things Go” and “See You Soon” left the audience still wanting more, it was quite the testament to Bea’s captivating presence on stage making the night truly unforgettable.

My expectations were thoroughly exceeded by Beabadoobee and the supporting acts, Hovvdy and Keni Titus. Experiencing the performance live in person created a memorable experience because every performer had a unique sound and I will definitely be listening to alot  more Keni Titus and Hovvdy songs thanks to Beabadoobee. Every single fan was impacted by Beabadoobee's inspirational connection with the audience that night, and I was moved by her stellar performance and the vulnerability she has in the music she writes and with her fans, which distinguishes her as a genuinely remarkable artist. The "This Is How Tomorrow Moves" tour starring Beabadoobee is undoubtedly something you shouldn't miss if you have the opportunity to see her live!
